This Time of Year Christmas Concert
For the second year in a row Doug Pierce is offering a Christmas concert for the church. Like last year, the concert will feature a string quartet and nostalgic Christmas favorites. But this year Doug is bringing some of his friends along to add to the musical palette and is raising awareness of a powerful ministry to our American Troops.
THE MUSIC
“My goal [of the CD] was to marry both the modern acoustic sound with the classical sound of the past,” Doug explained. “The result is a CD that will take the listener back to a time when he or she first heard some of these classics and will bring back the richest of Christmas time memories. To me, this is what Christmas is all about.”
In addition to the string quartet, this year's concert will include several incredible and sought after artists that Doug considers close friends. The styles vary (offering something for everyone) but the heart is still the same. To celebrate the coming of our Savior and to be reminded of the His great love for us.
THE MISSION
Besides an unforgettable evening, Doug will also give audiences the opportunity to be a part of reaching out to our military communities. The tour will benefit Crucible, an organization that exists to encourage, engage and equip our US Military Communities at home and abroad. The way they accomplish this is by Marriage Conferences, Chaplain Conferences, Appreciation Concerts, Concert Tours, Hospital Tours and many other events.
The fact is that America is at war and has been for a decade. The numbers are scary... 4,683 killed. 32,799 wounded. 817 soldiers have committed suicide. Armed Forces personnel are more likely to get a divorce than a civilian. The question that Crucible is trying to answer is what can we do to help our troops and remind America that we have men and women in harms way this very day.
Since 2004 Doug has been traveling to various military communities providing them with entertaining and spiritual music. In 2010 he and some friends created Crucible, held their first marriage conference called "Strength & Honor" and began passionately pursuing how to best serve the military. Since then God has opened up oportunities to work with the USO, Wounded Warrior Project and the Army Chaplaincy in the US, Germany, Italy and Belgium.
Crucible is poised to take up where the USO leaves off....Spiritual development and emotional health.
THE TOUR
The music consists of a string quartet, upright bass, percussionist, Doug on acoustic guitar and various guest vocalists. “Just like my Christmas CD, the tour will focus on classic and elegant arrangements of Christmas favorites,” Doug said, adding that the concert will also contain three of his original Christmas compositions.
Another bonus of each concert is that the audience will get to sing along, something Doug is adamant about. “I am more of a worship leader than I am a performer. I will definitely invite folks to join us in singing songs they have grown up with and know so well. What better time of year to worship our Savior than when we celebrate the event of His coming to us?”
“You will not only be able to share a great musical experience with us, but you will also have the opportunity of making a serious contribution in helping our troops,” Doug said. “I can’t think of a better way for you to invest your time and resources this Christmas season and I'm excited to bring more awareness of Crucible and the needs of the American Military family.”
“I’ve been around Christmas music programs and special events for a long time, but the Doug Pierce Christmas Concert was one of the most riveting, powerful, engaging, and Christ honoring presentations I’ve ever attended. It was one of those experiences you didn’t want to end and your spirit was yearning for more.”

Doug has created a fresh take on Christmas classics that creates a wonderful environment for worship! Your students will think they are cool, your musicians will be impressed, and your senior adults will thank you for the wonderful program! You will not find a more humble, talented, and easy group to work with."

"Doug Pierce delivers the life-changing message of Christmas in an intimate way that touches the heart. His soothing voice and acoustic guitar is backed by an ensemble of skilled string players which merge nostalgic instrumentation into a modern un-plugged setting. We were blessed!"

"I would highly recommend to anyone that you seriously consider having Doug Pierce and his group come and present their Christmas concert for your organization. Even though the word "concert" is used, I will tell you that our church not only experienced a great time of fun and enjoyment of their musical talent, but we had an incredible time of worship that evening! From young to old, our folks thought that their jazz rendition of "The Little Drummer Boy" was absolutely amazing and unlike anything we've ever heard! I was blessed by how much effort Doug and his group put forth just to be available for us, and they did an awesome job of personally connecting with people from our community. You will be blessed for sure to have this group!"

“We had the opportunity to host Doug Pierce and his String Ensemble last December as part of our Christmas Celebration at FBC. The night was full of laughter, contemplation, and rejoicing over the birth of our Savior. Doug led in an intimate time of worship that exalted our great God!”
